Snuzpods are some of the best bedside cribs, and getting rid of one after months of use can be difficult. Whether you have plans for another baby or aren’t sure when you’ll be ready to add another member to your family, storing and keeping your Snuzpod for later is an excellent idea.

Here are the 3 best ways to store a Snuzpod after your baby has grown out of it:

  1. Use vacuum bags and plastic bins for damp areas.
  2. Store your Snuzpod around your house.
  3. Repurpose your Snuzpod.

In the rest of this article, I’ll explain each of the above-mentioned ways to store your Snuzpod in detail. I’ll also explain what steps you’ll need to follow before you store these cribs away.

Can You Store Snuzpods Long Term?

Cribs can last a very long time in storage if you package and position them correctly.

You can store Snuzpods long-term as long as you have the tools and space to do so. Snuzpods are easy to take apart and place in an airtight container for later use, which can help you tuck away the pod until you’re ready to use it again.

If you follow the proper steps, your Snuzpod can last for several years in storage! So, let’s talk about how you can keep your Snuzpod in perfect condition, even when you aren’t using it.

What To Know Before Storing a Snuzpod?

When storing anything, moisture, bacteria, and fungi are your worst enemies. You’ll have to ensure that the Snuzpod stays clean and dry during storage if you want to use it again – if you don’t, long periods of disuse can allow harmful fungus and bacteria to damage it.

Before storing a Snuzpod, you should clean it thoroughly to prevent bacteria from taking over during storage. You should also ensure that your Snuzpod is sealed in a container and kept off of the floor to keep humidity, dust, and airborne bacteria away from it.

If you want your crib to stay in tip-top shape, you’ll have to clean it very well first.

The cloth bassinet of a Snuzpod is hand wash-only. To clean it:

  1. Unscrew the rods that hold up the mesh fabric.
  2. Remove the rods from your bassinet’s fabric lining.
  3. Soak the material in a bucket or bowl of warm water for a few minutes.
  4. Use a mild, baby-safe detergent to scrub the material, being careful not to rip the mesh.
  5. Thoroughly rinse the lining with warm water.
  6. Hang the fabric to dry until it is completely dry

Once the fabric is clean, you can put it somewhere where it won’t come in contact with humidity or dust.

As for the mattress, you should remove and wash the cover, vacuum off the fabric, then wipe down the whole thing with a disinfectant wipe.

You should then clean the frame with a disinfectant wipe to remove all dust and gunk from it. Once this is done, coat it with some wood polish to help keep moisture and dirt from damaging the wood.

During storage, you should also seal up your Snuzpod in containers or bags that can keep dust, dirt, fungi, and moisture away from the frame, mattress, and fabric lining.

Keeping it off the floor and ensuring that the frame pieces are stored flat can prevent the wood from warping, cracking, or rotting.

3 Best Ways To Store a Snuzpod

Choosing where to put your Snuzpod after using it can be challenging, especially if you don’t know how to keep the materials in good condition. However, with a bit of creativity and cleaning, your Snuzpod can last many years in storage, no matter where you put it!

Let’s look at the best ways for you to store your Snuzpod:

1. Use Vacuum Bags and Plastic Bins for Damp Areas

If you don’t want to get rid of your Snuzpod but want to keep it for later use, you can seal it up in some moisture-proof bags and containers and tuck it away in an attic, basement, shed, or storage unit. That way, when you take it back out, it’ll be just the same as when you put it into storage.

To use this method, you’ll need several large vacuum-sealing bags like these Spedalon Vacuum Bags (available on Amazon.co.uk), which come in several sizes. They’re perfect for outgrown clothes, old Snuzpod sheets, and blankets.

For the mattress, you’ll need a bag. I used these Brackit Mattress Bags (available on Amazon.co.uk) for my baby’s Snuzpod, and they’ve held through moves and damp attic storage. They also come in a two-pack, and you can use the second bag to store your Snuzpod frame.

So, to store your Snuzpod:

  • Disassemble the frame and clean all components of the Snuzpod.
  • Place hardware such as screws in a plastic bag to keep everything together.
  • Allow every part to dry completely.
  • Place fabrics such as the bassinet cover in a vacuum-sealed bag.
  • Place the mattress in a mattress bag.
  • Place the frame in a mattress bag or plastic container. This step is optional, but it helps keep the frame in perfect condition.

2. Store Your Snuzpod Around Your House

If you have the space to keep your Snuzpod in your home in a dry and climate-controlled area like an extra room, closet, or storage cabinet, putting away the Snuzpod should be simple.

Since the humidity and temperature are controlled in your home, your Snuzpod shouldn’t have any issues with dust, fungi, or warping as long as it is clean before you store it.

To prevent scratching or damage, you can wrap or drape a sheet over the crib before you store it. In addition, try to find an area where you can either keep the crib assembled or lay each component of the crib flat to avoid warping.

3. Repurpose Your Snuzpod

When your little one starts sleeping on their own, furnishing their room and keeping everything organized can be challenging. Luckily, Snuzpods are among the best cribs to repurpose for storage and baby-room furniture.

You can choose to keep almost anything in your Snuzpod after your baby is done with it. I’ve previously used mine to store plushies, dolls, and extra blankets for my toddler. With the convenient zippers that allow you to drop down the fabric side of the crib, it makes the perfect place for toddlers to keep all their favourite toys, too.

Now that my little one can walk, my Snuzpod has helped me teach her how to pick up after herself – just proof that the Snuzpod is the absolute best!

You can also store diapers, sheets, feeding equipment, clothes, and so many other things in your Snuzpod after your baby’s done with it. So, get creative with yours and stay organized with a Snuzpod!
