Joie swings are versatile and received high marks when tested and reviewed for convertibility and simplicity of assembly. They also boast plenty of accessories and attractive features, among other exciting components, and are excellent soothers for your baby. However, the only downside is that Joie swing covers don’t perform when they’re cleaned.

You can wash a Joie swing cover by spot cleaning, although machine-wash isn’t recommended. The best way to clean it is by using a sponge and soapy water only. As per the product’s manual, you should never use bleach to wash a Joie swing.

Joie Baby stated that washing Joie swing covers in washing machines isn’t recommended due to the delicate nature of the fabrics. Spot cleaning can prevent pilling and static cling, which happens when the product is machine washed. Keep reading as I discuss this topic further.

What Type of Fabric Is the Joie Swing Cover Made Of?

Joie Baby swing covers are made of 100% polyester fabric. This fabric is best cleaned with warm water, as cold water may not remove stains, especially oil-based ones.

Warm water will be more likely to prolong the life of your baby swing cover, as it not only cleans but protects the polyester fabric of the insert. When properly cared for, the polyester will hold up well without shrinking, fading, or pilling—and your swing cover will last longer.

When washing a polyester cover, it’s best not to use hot or cold water to wash it. Using hot water can cause the material to shrink over time. On the other hand, cold water isn’t as effective in removing tough stains, especially if they’re oil-based.

Can You Wash a Joie Swing Cover?

You can wash a Joie swing cover, but you should wash the fabric by hand only or spot cleaning any stains with warm water and mild soap. Joie Baby doesn’t recommend washing the fabric in the machine.

Joie Baby reminds its customers that they shouldn’t wash the swing covers using a washing machine. However, the Sansa 2-in-1 cover is machine washable, according to Joie Baby’s website. On the Serina 2-in-1, however, the instructions state that only the body support and seat pad are removable and washable and didn’t say anything about machine washing.

The consensus on the product’s reviews has shown that the swing covers should only be spot cleaned and not machine washed.

The Joie Serina 2-in-1 was tested and reviewed by Mumsnet, who found that the fabric cover was somewhat difficult to clean. The testers were able to remove some stains with a bit of stain remover and a damp cloth. However, they reported that the fleece-like lining in the swing looked stained even after spot cleaning.

How To Wash a Joie Swing Cover?

To wash a Joie swing cover, you should remove the cover and hand wash it with warm, soapy water. The polyester fabric is delicate and may get damaged when machine washed. Therefore, you should remove the cover and hand wash it with warm, soapy water.

Also, you shouldn’t use hot or cold water as the hot water may damage the material, and the cold water may not thoroughly clean the product.

Below are steps on how to clean a Joie Swing Cover correctly:

  1. Follow the instructions in the manual to remove the swing insert.
  2. Use a sponge and a mild soap to cleanse the soiled areas of the fabric gently.
  3. Once you’ve finished washing the cover and have removed all stains, hang it or lay it flat to dry.

Per the Sansa 2-in-1 swing and the Serina 2-in-1 swing instruction manuals, spot cleaning is the best way to wash the fabric inserts. They recommend that you use warm, soapy water.

However, you must not use gasoline, pure neutral detergent, or other organic solvents. These cleaners may cause damage to the delicate fabric. The instructions also strictly remind users not to use bleach on the product.

Additionally, don’t use a conventional dryer, as this could shrink or damage the cover. Hang the cover inside in a place with good airflow or outside on a warm, sunny day. This will prevent the material from being damaged in any way.
